Dutch photographer Erik van der Weijde takes several Brazilian women as his subjects in this bold series of portraits. Each is portrayed in black and white, and most look directly into the camera lens smiling, challenging, alluring. Whether outdoors or in, sleeping or sunbathing, the candid and endearing shots undoubtedly give rise to many questions. Who are these women? Why does one appear far more than the others? What is their relationship with the photographer? The series speaks as much from its ambiguity as from the intimate moments it captures.
