Ruud van Empel makes Still Life relevant and gives it a value that the genre has lost over the centuries. His photography is actually mesmerizing in parts and you feel the importance of Still Life as if in its essence it can explain the world should you have the leap of imagination to allow it.
This book is so beautifully formed that it feels as if it should be strewn onto the deck of a yacht or at the very least the cabin of a canal boat. At the very least we can see it on your kitchen table, your nosy friend will be very pleased to pick up explore this one.
